Killarney and Port Fairy

During our stay at Breamlea CP a resident there informed us that Killarney was a great place to camp. We had to check it out. The camp area is around the perimeter of a football ground and well grassed. A short walk over the sand dunes and you are on the ocean beach. There is not much to do at Killarney itself but it is very close to Port Fairy and a far cheaper alternative than camping in town.

The town of Port Fairy would not look out of place in Tasmania. They have maintained the 'old country town' look in the town area. There is a constant population of around 4000 people that swells to about 10000 during holiday periods. Late February each year the town hosts The Port Fairy Music Festival and I believe the population increases to about 40000 for the duration of the event.

Do you remember these? Every town once had at least one of these.
